In July 1968 Phan Thiet, Vietnam was a Swift Boat Base for the U.S. Navy. I was serving aboard the U.S.S. Steinaker (DD-863) as a Deck Seaman and the Ship's Photographer. My CO and a number of senior petty officers went ashore to stop at a U.S. Marine FOB located just outside Phan Thiet. This photo was taken at a local bar on our way back from the base and after visiting a photographers hut near the beach. The children in this photo were curious and were looking in at us.
