Location
I took this photo at sunrise on Ormond beach this summer while on vacation. I am not a morning person but wanted to get a beautiful early morning shot over the beach and was eager to practice a few techniques I had recently learned about from a fellow photographer.Time
It was sunrise about 5:30 amLighting
It was all natural light. Tripod with a shutter speed of About 20 seconds.Equipment
Tripod, Nikon D5300, 35 mm prime lens was all I used.Inspiration
Actually a fellow photographer, Hoozmanz on Viewbug took some amazing photos of water landscape. I really wanted to know how to do it and they were nice enough to give me a few pointers. I hope I did it justice. I never dreamed that it would end up as a finalist in a contest, but loved the outcome.Editing
Yes, this is actually 2 photos blended from the same photo shoot, one of the water and one of the sky.In my camera bag
Nikon D5300, 18-55 kit lens, 55-200 kit lens and 35 mm prime at times. I also carry a tripod for landscape when I remember and several batteries and sd cards.Feedback
Be patient, take several shots and don't discard until you see them on the screen. Don't be afraid to ask someone you admire for pointers. Many times they are friendly and more than willing to help out. When shooting landscape, always use an aperature of at least f9 or 10 so that the photo is clear. Try different times of the day to shoot the same scene. Take a tripod or find a rock, fence etc to stabilize your camera. Never give up. Take photos of things that inspire you or awe you. Chances are if you see the beauty in them, someone else will too.
