This a traditional appetizer on the Balkans - the name is actually Turkish but you'll find it in Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Romania as well.
It is usually served as a 'meze' (which means something as a snack served together with the local brew - rakiya) during the cold winter moths.

It's generally made of mashed peppers, eggplant, parsley and garlic (a lot of it!) with some oil (preferably olive oil) and salt.
