Location
The photo is taken at my in-law’s summer house in the North East of Zealand, Denmark (Nykøbing Sjælland area). We had visited a small local Zoo and my son Noah had found this feather from one of the Peacocks that runs around freely within the enclosures of the zoo. In a bush..not on the bird!!..Time
The photo is taken late afternoon after the trip to the local zoo and required several attempts as it was a bit windy and the sharpness was difficult to get right... together with the angle the feather is held in it required some patience.Lighting
Daylight picture in the sun...I kind of walked around myself to get the 'perfect blue sky' behind the feather and get the reflections or the shine of the sun on the feather as I wanted it.Equipment
I used a Nikon D5500 with a standard 18-55mm lens (AF P NIKKOR DX VR) and a HOYA CIR-PL filter for this photo with the intent to balance the reflections/shine on the feather and not overexpose it.Inspiration
My son ran around in the garden and held the feather in his hand. Initially I had him holding the feather, but he got tired and I then had to hold and shoot the photo at the same time. I liked the intense colors of the feather and the shine of the sun on it together with the blue background.Editing
The photo is not edited. In my camera bag
I carry the Nikon D5500 with a standard 18-55mm lens (AF P NIKKOR DX VR) and a 55-300mm zoom lens (AF-S NIKKOR DX). I also used a HOYA CIR-PL filter for this photo with the intent to balance the reflections and not overexpose it.Feedback
Be ready to take photos at all hours in the day, in the evening and early in the morning (in short: at all times!). As the right light, the right scene and the right atmosphere will change and may disappear, but not if you are there to capture the moment for all of us to see and enjoy. With this photo the moment was created by me and I fortunately had the chance to set it up as I wanted.
