I love food photography, and I also love moody photography. When I saw those figs and found that cup at home I decided that this was the chance to practice and create this picture.Equipment
Canon Rebel T5 with kit lens, Vivitar tripod, homemade soft boxInspiration
I love paiting and I specially admire painter who are masters of the chiaroscuro. I want to bring both light and shadow to my photography, and this photo was a chance for me to practice.Editing
I don't do a lot of post processing for food photography, if I do I use Lightroom but it is only to more highlights and shadows around. I think food doesn't take well to post processing. In my camera bag
I've upgraded since this photo. Now I have a Canon 6d with a Canon 24-105 mm f4 lens. I also have a 50 mm f 1.8 and a 70-300 f4. i like using the 50 mm for food photography, when using a crop sensor camera I like using my 24 mm f2.8.Feedback
Get to know your ingredient. Food photography is a lot about capturing the right angle. If you are using raw ingredients then I think you have more time to play around with the composition rather than with cooked food. Play around with the angles and the light, and use a tripod! I love working handheld, but for this type of light the tripod is an essential tool.
