Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at DisneyWorld in Florida, USA. It was pretty much dumb luck that I was able to get the shot.

Time

This photo was taken in the evening, just before full dark settled in. We were on one of the little side roads at Disney as the parade had already started on the main road through the park.

Lighting

This photo was taken with available light only.

Equipment

Because we were at Disney, and knowing we’d be going on roller coasters and water rides, my Nikon DSLR was left at home. I had my Easyshare and an Olympus water camera with me that day. This particular photo was taken with a Kodak Easyshare Z710 without benefit of a tripod.

Inspiration

My son and granddaughter were racing from one ride to another, having no patience for a grandmother that wanted to take pictures. I was doing my best to keep up with them, walking as fast as I could through the throngs of people. I knew this would be a great shot if I had the time to take it but knew I’d lose my family if I stopped. I had my Kodak Easyshare in my hand so I snapped the picture as I raced by, without even stopping.

Editing

There was no post-processing done to the picture.

In my camera bag

Normally I carry a Nikon D 3200, a Nikon 55-200mm zoom lens, a tipod, several filters, lens cleaning paraphernalia, and of course several batteries. I also carry a ‘cheaper’ camera for those times when I don’t feel it’s safe to have my Nikon out. I’m finding the Olympus Stylus Tough 3000 is pretty much indestructible, can be taken underwater and even dropped without damage. My Easyshare was never the same after it got in a heavy mist on a cruise.

Feedback

I'm a hobbyist so my only advice is to have fun!
