Location
This picture was taken on a bridge that connected my hometown with the neighbor town.Time
When I went back to my hometown after many hours photography trip with my friend, we drove on the bridge and was surprised at the sky turning to dramatic picture. We parked the car at the end of the bridge, then walked back to the middle section of the bridge. My friend helped me to set up the tripod to shoot this picture. I won't forget the end of that day around 7:00 pm.Lighting
Because it was the end of the day and the cloud blocked the sunset lighting, I set the B shutter speed and used the black card with a 4mm slot that I could control the amount of the light passing through the lens. Therefore, the F stop was 20, the total exposure time was 4.8 second. That's why I could get the special effect of the water flowing.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D750 with 24-85 lens. For long exposure, I used a tripod.Inspiration
This river is full of mysterious stories since my childhood, even my mom forbade me to go close to the river bank and the river bed, I still liked to take adventure there. After I moved to US, the river became the symbol of the memory of my past. As long as I visit my mom, taking the river picture is the most important thing I need to do.Editing
I was not good at Photoshop, so just adjust the basic elements via Lightroom to strengthen the saturation and enhance the contrast. In my camera bag
If I want to shoot landscape pictures, I pack my Nikon D750 with 24-85 mm lens before I get the new lens, 24-70 mm. If my targets are birds and animal, Nikon 200-500 mm lens is my priority. 3 or 4 batteries, an extra SD card and a headlight are always in my bag.Feedback
To set the tripod firmly is very important, especially, when you stand on a heavy traffic bridge. To arrive at the site half an hour before sunset, you'll have enough time to observe the surroundings and set up your equipment.
