Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the backyard of a friends house. She lives on a property with horses and the bath we used was actually one of the horses water troughs. We of course made sure we washed the bath before and afterwards.

Time

We started shooting in the afternoon at 5:30pm in January which is Summer here in Australia. This photo was shot at 6:35pm when we were starting to lose a bit of light however it was perfect because there were no shadows.

Lighting

I had an assistant hold up a reflector so that the lighting on her face was beautiful and even. This was all we needed for this shoot.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS 6D with my EF35mm f/2 IS USM lens. ISO was set to 400, exposure was 1/1000 and aperture was f / 2.0.

Inspiration

I have always wanted to do a bath shoot but i wanted it to be a little bit different. It didn't turn out exactly the way i was hoping at the time but we made it work and the outcome was awesome!

Editing

I always use Lightroom and PS when editing. I believe i used a filter by VSCO, i brightened the photo and corrected the colours. I then took it in the PS where i corrected the skin, did some dodging and burning, sharpening etc.

In my camera bag

I don't have a lot of equipment but i always have my 6D Canon Camera with my 35mm, 50mm and macro lens.

Feedback

You can have an idea in your head but you don't know if it's going to work until you get out there and do it so basically my advice is, don't delay, just give it a go and try new things!
