Behind The Lens

Location

The picture was taken in a small town in the north of Poland, called Swiecie, where my cousins with their families live.

Time

The pictures were supposed to be taken around 11 a.m. in a beautiful scenery full of flowers. Additionally, kids were expected to wear new, fancy dresses bought especially for the session. Unfortunately, life is not always that straightforward. Both of the girls were not willing to cooperate, scared of changing the clothes and the field that I chose as a scenery. Apparently, I was not informed by my cousin that 11 a.m. is the time when our models usually take a nap :). Therefore, I cancelled the session and with a help of my mom we decided to let them continue their daily routine and sleep. After a power nap, around 2 p.m we took the girls for a walk to feed the ducks hanging out close to their home and thats when and where the pictures 'yo, share the bread with me' and 'I will tell you a secret' were taken.

Lighting

Natural light.

Equipment

The pictures were taken with Canon EOS 5D mark II camera, with a 85 mm lens of 1.2 brightness - one of mine two favorite lenses.

Inspiration

Both of the girls were calmer than usual, focused and close to each other without showing a dominant attitude. It was the only frame where I could embed both of them on the picture. It was the time when they were eating a dry bread, which was supposed to be used to feed the ducks.

Editing

Yes, I mitigated the green color which was dominating.

In my camera bag

In my bag I always have 2 spare batteries, a cleaning kit for the lens and a second lens which is 24 - 105 mm.

Feedback

Wait until the kids are hungry :) And more seriously, with children you need to await the moment when they are real and you as a photographer are invisible.
