Location
This was a photoshoot with my friend Tiina Anttila. She had a long time wish to someone to take comforting photo of herself. So we did! Only natural light and clean Finnish spring water wich made beautiful almost canvas painting style background to the photo. Photo was taken at lake Kuhmajärvi, Finland.Time
Photo was taken july 2016 on cloudy afternoon. Tiina had an idea of the place that is very important to her and wich she loves very much, springlake beach at Kuhmajärvi so there we went. She also picked up the lily from her backyard and wanted it to the photo too. I think it breaks the "smoke" effect on the water beautifully and makes it more meaningful.Lighting
Only lightsource was sun on a cloudy day. No external lighting needed, big clouds softened light evenly and I found that the direction of the light was best when it was opening her face and creating almost rembrandt style portrait light,Equipment
This was shoot with Nikon D610 and Sigma art 35mm, no other equipment needed. 35mm, 1/500, iso 100Inspiration
My friend and model of the photo Tiina Anttila had a long time wish to someone to take comforting photo of herself. There was a difficult period on her life and she wanted to capture the feeling with hope and sadness in the photo. Photo was very spontaneous. Only place and mood of the photo was planned.Editing
I did very little of post-processing to this photo. Mainly color correction and levels edit.In my camera bag
My workhorse is sigma art 35mm. Also 135mm 2.8 nikkor is trusted friend of mine and usually goes with me no matter of the style of the photoshoot. Usually I pack some of my handflashes and softboxes with me also, just in case if ambience light isn´t enough or more dramatic light needed. And Nikon D610, its always with me. And open mind!! Thats always with me.Feedback
Dont afraid to be out of ideas, sometimes best ideas needs just right place and people around you to happen. Ofcourse well planned photoshoot is the ideal and sure thing to go and I often do that but after the "main" photo is taken I try to create spontaneous moments that usually has totally different approach than planned. Sometimes they work better, sometimes worse.
