Thank you so much! The battle between this bee and the dragonfly really gave me an opportunity with this image. I have some regrets of things I didn't capture but I will make the best of my next opportunity.

I can't thank you enough for your compliments. I wish I knew how to enhance it with photoshop to make it better. I love the colors though.

Location
I captured this image at a floral garden in Birmingham, Alabama, spending the weekend with my children taking advantage of unplanned adventures while my wife was out of town on business. I am an amateur photographer and while my children were playing I watched as this bee and a dragonfly were dueling over this bloom.Time
I remember capturing this image in the early afternoon hours in early June 2016. The weather was ideal for photography. Clear skies, low humidity and gorgeous natural light.Lighting
I am an amateur photographer and I haven't yet purchased any external lighting but I remember what wonderful weather we had that day. Clear skies with bright natural light, low humidity (which is a plus in Alabama) and I didn't use my flash.Equipment
This was shot on my 2006 Canon EOS Xt with an EF-S 18 - 55mm lens. I want to upgrade my primary camera but I have a sentimental attachment to this Canon. I purchased it after 10 years of marriage in eager anticipation of the arrival of my first child.Inspiration
My inspiration for this capture was the vibrant colors. In 2011 after losing my sixth friend to testicular cancer and spending much of the last five years raising awareness of this disease, I have started to notice the regal color, purple, much more. It is my wife's favorite color and the color for the cancer ribbon for testicular cancer. I dismissed the beauty of this color for much of my life because it never seemed to be a masculine color but now it is a focus point for my life.Editing
I did not have to process this image very much after the capture. I used Lightroom to mildly adjust the saturation to bring out the beautiful colors I saw in the raw capture. In my camera bag
The first thing I like to pack is my EF-S 18 - 55mm Lens, EF-S 75 - 300mm Lens and tripod. I then pack the body of my primary camera which is my Canon EOS Xt. I know it is an older digital camera but I have had a wonderful run of great captures over the years and it has always been a wonderful companion on my travels. I have a collection of hoods for the multiple lenses that I use. I pack my Sony Handicam as well and it records my actions, so I may review later to see if I may have missed something very obvious for my next photography outing.Feedback
The most important thing I have learned for my photography is patience. I know we work in a very high speed world where time is money but I feel that if I rush I may miss something beautiful. I have never achieved perfection in any venture in my life but I use it as a goal to attain for every outing. I have a creative spirit and I keep many journals to remember the details of every action in my life. When you feel you have captured an image and you are happy with the outcome, stop, walk around the subject and try to visualize it from every angle. Make mental notes and try to capture the image again. It is impressive to see the beauty we miss when we get in a rush. Happy Shooting!
