The post processing really made this image what I experienced shooting this image. It was incredibly hot from the distance i was from the subject, the room was actually ver small and used a wide angle to get in as much as I could. I was afraid my camera may shutdown on me because the heat but it held up well. I used strobes to get a feel of depth and a slow shutter speed to get the feel of the pouring metal. I did get a couple different angles that I also like that i may post up :)

Can't wait to see more of your work! I'm just sorta sitting here smiling at this image. It's clear you put a lot of care into this. The use of the strobes to offset the ambient glow from the furnace really does it for me.

Behind The Lens

Location

Los Angeles, CA

Time

Daytime, hard to say for sure because we were indoors.

Lighting

I used 2 strobes, it was a small room. I used one that hit the background and over his shoulder and a fill for the front.

Equipment

Nikon D800 - 24-70mm. 2 strobes on stands.

Inspiration

It was an assignment to show the process of melting silver into bars.

Editing

Yes. Saturated the colors and did some dodge and burning. Accentuated the rays of light and smoke.

In my camera bag

Now, i have a Nikon Z7, 14-24mm, 24-70mm and a 70-200mm. I have a Camranger to work with my laptop for preview when time permits.

Feedback

You have to be ok with working in a chaotic situation. What you can't hear and feel is the tremendous noise and heat. Silver melts at about 1200 degrees so it was a difficult time and repeating the pour over and over to get the right shot.
