To make this photo I had to climb the mountain twice. At first I went to the top and saw a trail moving foward. I thought it was a round trip and advanced. In an hour I realized that I was wrong when I reached another town on the opposite side of the mountain. So I bought some water, had a 10 minutes rest in a beach tent and went back because I had some time before sunset yet. So I rushed back to the top. I made lots of photos that evening, but this one is my favourite. I was lucky enough to be there at the day when Moon rises an hour before sunset, which produced an image like that. The thing I like about Ukraine a lot is that we have loooooooooong lasting twilight here � the sky may be non black until 10 pm. It was a bit scary to walk back on the mountain trail using just moonlight. I even saw a fox and lots of bats. The photo can be used in feng shui to "drown the mountain".

Inspiration

The shapes and silhouettes. And the blended colors of sky and sea. Looked perfect to me!

Editing

not much really. It all worked out in a single frame because of the right timing.

In my camera bag

These days I use D750 and Tamron 15-30. Back then I had Nikon D7000 and a few lenses, including the kit one Nikon 18-135, which I used to take this photo.

Feedback

Good timing. You need to get it right in camera. The sky should be readable, not overly dark. Otherwise, just keep track of the Moon cycles. Full Moon is up during the sunset.
