This is a beautiful photo. Nicely done with the framing of the grasses.

Behind The Lens

Location

I was at a friends house for a Fourth of July celebration. She lives on Oneida Lake.

Time

dusk

Lighting

It was a hot day, not humid. The sunset was beautiful and I find that if you wait for most of the light from the sun is gone you get more of the red and a darker sky.

Equipment

Believe it or not I took this with my Samsung phone. My camera is a Canon T3I, I didn't have it with me.

Inspiration

It was a family reunion and 4th of July celebration with friends. We were down by the water sitting around the fire pit making s'mores. We had fireworks for when it got darker as did many people around the lake. It was a great evening!

Editing

I took a few pictures as the sun was setting but the colors just weren't showing up. I waited for it to get just a little darker and I needed some detail in front of it because just the lake and sky weren't enough to show the beauty of it. I moved my position to the right and got lower.

In my camera bag

I have a short lens 50mm and a zoom lens to 300. I have a tripod in the trunk of my car all the time.

Feedback

I did take many shots as the sun was setting and the first few weren't as dark and dramatic as this one and I didn't have the tall grass in the first few either.
