Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Tacoma, WA in a friend's backyard. It overlooks Stadium High School (where 10 Things I Hate About You was filmed!) and Commencement Bay. It's super secluded and has absolutely stunning views.

Time

This was taken around 7pm, and we had some great lighting in this little alcove of foliage.

Lighting

This was taken around 7pm, with amazingly perfect golden hour lighting. This was actually a test shot that I ended up loving more than most of the images I captured later on.

Equipment

Canon 6D, with Sigma 24-70 2.8 lens. Natural lighting, handheld shot.

Inspiration

Hailey and I are great friends, and she's always up for shooting with me! She's a well-known model in the Seattle/Tacoma/Vancouver area, so it's always a pleasure to get to work with someone with this much experience and with such an amazing look. I just love her!

Editing

I'm not one for a ton of post-processing, but I always adjust exposure (if needed) and add a custom present in Lightroom. I developed this preset to fit my style and I'm really loving it right now.

In my camera bag

I always have my camera, and my 24-70 2.8 very rarely leaves the body. I also carry my 85 1.8 as well, just in case. Lately, I've been carrying around some smokebombs I got online....also just in case. Ha! I have extra memory cards, batteries, the usual. It all comes with in my House of Flynn camera bag :)

Feedback

The Pacific Northwest has some of the most epic landscapes I've ever captured. I love putting beautiful women in these landscapes, and that just makes my heart beat a little bit faster. Get outside with your friends, even if it's in their backyard! You never know when you're going to shoot a test image, and it'll turn into one of your absolute favorites!
