I took this picture at the so called lake "Alatsee" in Bavaria, Germany. It is located near Füssen, the famous city in Germany, where the two castles of King Ludwig are (Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau). So all in all you can find this lake in the south of Bavaria.Time
This is one of my favorite pictures- i love the evening light. And that is the time i took this picture. It was evening at sundown, the clouds were colored in that bright pink and slightly red. It was near the blue hour and the atmosphere was just tranquil, calm and relaxing.Lighting
My goal was to take a photo that "invites" the visitor to this place. It was made to give a nice, moody looking. Calmness and tranquility were the things i was looking for. This image is made to show you how beautiful the light and the nature is especially at the evening.Equipment
For this photo tour i used the Olympus OM-D E-M5 with the 12-50mm f/3.5-5.6 lens and a Mantona Scout tripod. I used a ND Filter which is variable from ND 2-400.Inspiration
I think my picture style. I love to take photos of landscape, including mostly water. Waterfalls, rivers, lakes or the sea/ocean are landscapes i am focused at. I am sure that you can get the best light early in the morning or at the evening, together with the water and the colors you can find in several landscapes, these are the main ideas that are motivating me to take photos like this.Editing
Well, landscape captures are requiring some post processing, in the best case not much of it. But if you would like to have a nice looking, crisp image i would recommend to do some post processing. For this (and most of my other images) i use the Adobe Lightroom. I set the contrast, the clarity, the white balance, the sharpness and of course the noise reduction. It was not much to change, the image came out of cam just nice. No objects were put in there and nothing was put away. So you nearly see the image as i did at the location. In my camera bag
If a am honest i do not have that much equipment. I think it is the light and the technique and your eye that creates the image. The camera is just a tool. So i do not need very much. My Olympus OM-D E-M5 is always in my bag, the 12-50mm and a 40-150mm lens, too. Two batteries and an ND Filter with the tripod- thats all i need. :)Feedback
Yes, first i could recommend to get to your location and check it. See where there are good place to take beautiful photos and just go around a little bit (but do not forget the time) :-). So then when you want to capture this in the evening, check where west is. You will have to look in this direction to get the sundown, as you know. And then just try to be creative. Try various angles, perspectives, colors and moods to get what you want. It is all practice. And never forget to have fun. I suppose if you don't have got fun for what you are doing you won't have that big success you are dreaming of (or you want to have). So try and have fun :)
