Wonderful photo. Wondering if you added the sun and rays into the picture?
Love the clarity. I am a bit dissatisfied with ViewBug because you can't see the photo while posting a comment. I wrote them several time. Anyway, like you photography. Best regard.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my front yard flower bed.

Time

About 7:30 in the morning.

Lighting

Natural lighting from morning sun and built in flash

Equipment

Nikon D5300 body with 18-55mm kit lens. I also used the built in flash set to compulsory strob return.

Inspiration

The sunflower was a surprise plant. I believe it grew from a seed left behind from a squirrel or bird. Once in bloom, it was rather out of place in my yard and I decided to snap off a few shots before I had it removed.

Editing

I adjusted contrast and blemishes in Photoshop camera raw 8.0. I also straightened the horizon line.

In my camera bag

I carry the D5300, 18-55mm, and my favorite 55-300mm. Extra batteries and cards are also a must!

Feedback

Just get outside! If something catches your eye, go for it. Use smaller F-stop to capture the sun ray effect and flash to remove the silhoutte effect.
