Behind The Lens

Location

I shot this photo on the Isle of Seil. Whilst on a trip to the West coast of Scotland.

Time

Late evening.

Lighting

Shot during Golden hour.

Equipment

This image was shot hand held using a Canon 70d and a Sigma 10-20mm wide lens

Inspiration

I had been searching for a spot to capture a sunset. Fortunately though the weather changed bringing a storm front over the Atlantic and I was lucky enough to catch the setting sun casting rays of light through the approaching storm clouds.

Editing

The image was post prossesed using Photoshop to adjust lighting and levels to bring the image closer to how i viewed the scene.

In my camera bag

I usually keep everything but the kitchen sink in my bag. Most important though is my canon 70d and Sigma 50-500mm lens. Then my Canon 85mm prime. If I have them then I am good to go. Of course the Marco tubes, speedlite, spare batteries and tripod are all just as important. You never know what you may discover on your trip so I take it all Sigma 10-20, Canon 18-50 and Canon 50mm prime and filters included :)

Feedback

In my experience landscapes are forever changeable with weather and lighting. You have to be prepared for all situations and accept that you can't always shoot what you planned for. Sometimes you can capture something better other times you may not get what you wanted but don't give up trying.
