Behind The Lens

Location

Lyme Park, Peak District.

Time

8:30am

Lighting

The capture was taken in the morning.

Equipment

Canon 6D with 150-500mm Sigma lens at 500mm.

Inspiration

I used to live on a farm next to Lyme Park and i am also a volunteer photographer for Lyme. So i was able to get in to the park before anybody else. This gave me a great opportunity to take shots of the deer whilst nobody else was around and the deer are at their most active. Also, this was taken during the rut, which is always in interesting time to shoot the deer.

Editing

Minor processing. A little crop and colour correction.

In my camera bag

Currently i have in my bag a Canon 5Dsr, 24-70mm f2.8 Canon & 16-35 f4 Canon & 100-400mm Canon. I also have Kase filters, grad, reverse grad, polariser and ND grad. Manfrotto tri-pod.

Feedback

You need to arrive early when there are as fewer people likely to be around. You should wear dark clothing, ideally camouflage. You should always use a long lens so that you do not need to get too close to the deer and invade their space. This is not fair on the deer but can also put yourself at risk.
