Location
This was taken off the coast of Oregon, at Fort Stevens.Time
It was taken @ 11 am, on a slightly overcast day.Lighting
My sister and I looked at different angles, and had my daughter, Rachel, sit in a variety of areas on this old shipwreck to get the right look for her "fin" to reflect and blend well with her dress to give her that "mermaid" look.Equipment
Canon point and shoot.Inspiration
My daughter and I were on vacation visiting my sister, right as her Senior year in high school was starting. We wanted to take full opportunity of Oregon's beauty to do Rachel's Senior pictures. Her "tail" was actually supposed to be a pashmina, but my clever sister worked it into a mermaid's tail. Since Rachel has always loved Mermaids, it was the ultimate Senior picture for herEditing
Yes, mostly to balance the white balance and work the contrast. In my camera bag
My camera, my batteries, an extra SD card.Feedback
Make sure you have plenty of time to work your environment. When we started working her shots, a large group of kids decided to start running and jumping around the shipwreck itself, and so we ended up having to wait it out until their parents finally noticed we were doing a Senior Pictures shoot, and redirected the kids elsewhere. Patience is the key to getting the shots you want.
