Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on our last day of our anniversary vacation in Puerto Vallarta.

Time

It was taken during that magic hour in the evening when the sky shows off it magnificent array of colors.

Lighting

Maybe I am just partial to Puerto Vallarta but it seems like the lighting there is always perfect!

Equipment

Unfortunately all I had available to me for this picture was my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone. I am however pleased with the way it turned out.

Inspiration

While we were sitting at Cuates y Cuetes Restaurant we heard a huge ruckus on the beach so we went to see what was going on. A fishing charter boat had just returned from a fishing trip with a prize 400+ lb. Marlin. Everyone was standing around it taking pictures and talking about it. We took a few pictures of it then went back to our table at the restaurant. Shortly after sitting down to enjoy our nice cold Coronas the couple who caught the fish sat at the table next to us and started talking to us. We ended up being invited to their table to have a nice dinner of freshly caught Marlin. The couple that caught the Marlin only kept a little for the meal and donated the rest to the people. After many drinks, talks and laughter we all noticed the absolutelty beautiful sunset on the pier. I jumped up and took a picture with my phone since sadly I had left my camera in the hotel room. It was an amazing ending to an amazing honeymoon vacation!

Editing

No post processing was done at all on this photo.

In my camera bag

Normally I have a Nikon D7100, a macro lens, wide angle lens, prime lens and a zoom lens.

Feedback

I would just say that it is always best to have some form of a camera with you than nothing at all. I would have been so mad at myself had I not been able to catch this sunset!
