This photo was taken at Cottesloe Beach at an annual Sculptures by the SeaTime
I go each year before dawn, this photo was taken about 5:30am. When I first started to go at this time there might have been one or two people. Now there are about 40-50 people. :( The secret got out.Lighting
This is one of the golden times to take photos as the sun comes up taking photos from the dark and continually working through the dawn gets great picktures.Equipment
This was done with a Nikon D3200 with the Nikon 18-200mm 3.4-5.6 and Tripod. I don't use a flash I really enjoy doing long exposure images.Inspiration
I love photographic the sculpture as there is always something new and interestingEditing
There was very little done as far as I remember. At that time I was just using photoshop to lighten an image if it did not come up so well. Now I do all my work in Lightroom and can get far better results. In my camera bag
I usually have a tripod, spare battery, cleaning cloth. I have since brought more lenses so this year I will experiment more.Feedback
The only thing is experiment with time. I always try to capture images on the lowest ISO at that time ISO 100. So exposure is long as I also go for the smallest aperture F22. This is to get as much details as possible. The next is that I experiment with composition, I would take multiple shots of the same sculpture, looking at position, height, distance, angle. All images are kept for review, including the bad ones as I analysis all of them to see what looks good and what does not. Then review the best with the worst to understand why I feel one is good and one is bad. From there I work to improve.
