Location
I was hiking the Appalachian Train, in the Shenandoah Valley area, when I crested a hill to this amazing view. I just had to take my camera out and capture the image. I loved the peaceful serenity created by all the colors as the sun changed its positions in the sky. Just beautiful!Time
This was early morning sunrise time. The blend of clearing fog and penetrating sunshine creating an amazingly colorful view.Lighting
I love the lighting on this picture. The changing colors of the sun reflecting on the beautiful colors of the hillsides was absolutely amazing.Equipment
Nikon D90 with no flash. No tripod.Inspiration
I was hiking and taking pictures of inspirational scenes.Editing
I cropped out some distracting tree branches but otherwise no editing. In my camera bag
When I am hiking I usually have a camera and one lens (which one depends on where I am). I rarely carry a tripod or flash when hiking. When traveling by car, however, I have the works - tripod, several lenses and filters, flash, and remote control.Feedback
Patience - timing is everything for capturing the perfect shot.
