I never tried taking a long exposure at night before but I was out backpacking two days ago and figured why not give it a shot. I have a flimsy small tripod I take hiking so I wasn't expecting anything good. This was the best of about ten attempts. It was a great night for star gazing with my son up above Summit Lake in the Clearwater Wilderness of Washington State.
