Behind The Lens

Location

Hermanus, South Africa

Time

After kitebording pretty much the whole day we started a BBQ on the lakes edge while watching the sun goes down around 7pm when this couple approaches and casually starts fishing in front of us. This image is the result!

Lighting

Early mornings and early evenings for me are best, everything caught in between and worth hanging onto is a bonus.

Equipment

This shot was taken from my Mobile but I also use a Cannon 650D when im on a random photography hunting mission.

Inspiration

The idea of a magnificent sunset and the humbleness of the guy fishing for dinner while his partner stands by him in love and support.

Editing

Simply a bit of contrast and saturation if needed.

In my camera bag

Gorilla tripod, 50mm, 17-200mm, and a 16mm wide lens however I seem to use my phone far more frequently.

Feedback

Advice is just that...advice! If i see a moment I'd capture it as soon as i can be it with a mobile or my Cannon. The idea to me that at that particular moment, I am the only person in the world that captured that image at that time, that angle, in that country...you get what i mean. Prepping or at least deciding on what kind of image you want to capture is key to time of day and in turn you light. Early mornings and evenings are best to catch good light on subjects. My 10cents, never leave home without your camera or at the least a quality mobile phone capable of capturing decent images.
