Behind The Lens

Location

This image of my lad was taken from his bedroom and looking down in to our hot tub which is right by the wall. I had to hang out of the window quite a bit to get the angle i wanted but i think it worked well.

Time

This was taken on a mid afterrnoon summers day.

Lighting

This is natural light but as it was quite sunny and with the water it gave some great lighting.

Equipment

This was shot using a canon 5Diii and the 70-200mm f2.8 lens

Inspiration

I wanted this to look like an advert, say for mens after shave or something, i also wanted it to be about the eyes, getting a piercing and captivating look, and fortunately my lad is quite good at those kind looks.

Editing

I edited this in Photoshop. I dod some spot removal, as he is just 15, and then some Dodge & Burn and then made the eyes pop by painting in different colours. I then finished by doing some colour grading.

In my camera bag

I mainly shoot wildlife and aviation so my go to camera and lens is a canon 5Dii and the 500mm f4 lens

Feedback

The thing that has made this shot work for me was beacuse it was shot from above and its great to try these things out, even if you just get someone to sit on the floor and shoot down on to them you can get some great images, its definitely worth a try.
