Behind The Lens
Location
This shot was taken at an abandoned warehouse in Pennsylvania. My buddies fiance wanted some photographs because he's always on the road in his rig featured behind. So in essence, she was hopeful to spend time with him after getting back from a long road trip to Texas. In that moment she wanted to lavish and be captivated in that time well spent.Time
This was shot in the mid-afternoon, a nice summer storm had just rolled through. We were lucky to catch a break with the sun piercing the thunderheads before it soaked us.Lighting
My lighting was two strobes as well the sunlight breaking through the clouds. I had a ND filter attached to my lens shoot wide open.Equipment
I used my Nikon D700 with my nifty fifty and ND filter, one ab800 strobe placed off to the side stationary, and another ab800 held up by friend acting as my boom.Inspiration
The collection of everything I ever photographed, and as far as light goes, Gregory Crewdson. I know it's not even comparable but I've always had a deep appreciation of his lighting.Editing
Well, in this shot, I just did my normal checks and balances to make it 'pop', but I didn't go far, I was aiming for that commercial feel.In my camera bag
I normally just have my 50mm 1.4 and my 20mm 2.8, steel wool, a wire whisk, and a long rope, and a case of nd filters.Feedback
Always keep shooting, and always keep learning, but always, just always experiment. Oh and treat your SD/CF card which ever memory you are using as a roll of film, be patient, just let it come to you.
