Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at Lake Nockamixon State Park in Pennsylvania.

Time

Any time I go out with friends I always have my camera. It was about 8 PM when I took this picture. I had to get the sunset at the most visible time.

Lighting

I wanted this photo to have all natural lighting. I had the camera set to aperture priority so it set the shutter speed automatically for the three shots in this HDR photo. I didn't realize the lampposts had their lights on but they look cool in the photo!

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon EOS Rebel SL1 with an 18-135mm lens. It was set to aperture priority to get the three shots all in focus for this HDR photo. I also used a tripod which I think is from the 80's.

Inspiration

I recently got into taking HDR photographs and I thought Lake Nockamixon would be the perfect spot for one. The reflection of the sunset on the water completes the picture.

Editing

I used Photomatix Pro to combine the three images I took to create this HDR image.

In my camera bag

I usually carry around my camera and tripod and that's it.

Feedback

Find yourself a lake and wait for the sunset. Mess around with the exposure compensation and take a lot of pictures to get what you think looks amazing after you process the images.
