Location
Grand Cayman at Stingray City on July 4th, 2014Time
This was taken around 2:30 PM, was taken with ambient light.Lighting
Sonce there were so many divers in the water, sand/silt is stirred up quite a bit, so I chose to take this using ambient light (no u/w strobes).Equipment
Olympus EPL-5, nauticam housing, Panasonic 8mm FishEye lens. On scuba and using NitroxInspiration
I simply love the stingrays at both Stingray City and the Sandbar. I wanted to show the joy I have in being in the water with themEditing
I did a white balance adjustment, the added a bit of contrast and brightened up the blue a bit.In my camera bag
Olympus m.Zuiko 60mm macro lens, Olympus PRO 12-40mm lens, and the underwater ports to fit them.Feedback
You will end up taking hundreds of shots during a one hour dive...most of which you will trash. But each of those shots teaches you what to try next. I do look at my shots in between action in the water and adjust as needed. Also, since the rays are moving quickly, you will need your shutter set to s 1/250 through s 1/1250 to get the animal. I also usually set the camera to do 3 shots per depression of the button...I get interesting action shots that way.
