Location
The photo was taken on one of my long trips through this beautiful country in southwestern Canada. On the edge of the Okanagan Lake in British Columbia there are huge fields and green meadows of the ranches and plantations, where peaches, oranges, cherries, apples and more are grown. And on one of these green fields I saw my "Spraying monster on wheels".Time
The sun was late afternoon already low in this very hot and dry summer. The green of the field longed for water .....Lighting
For me its always a new challenge working with such a sunlight to get the perfect photo. Despite my advice: Have the courage to photograph into the (sun)light and always pay attention for a correct exposure (so not the photos wouldn't be totally black against the light). And therefore better to make several shots and select it later.Equipment
The photo is a little dated. At the time I use the fantastic Canon A 1. I have photographed from the hand without a tripod with a 200mm telephoto lens.Inspiration
That was quite spontaneously. I stopped my car and then I took the long thing on big wheels targeted. The giant sprinklers went all alone on the green field. The drizzle and the translucent silver-glistening sunlight fascinated me. It was the incentive for me to hold the space and depth, the heat and moisture in one single photo.Editing
Yes, it was later edited by me in Adobe Lightroom. By strong contrast, extensive highlights and shadows, intense black and white, little "clarity" plus dynamics. In my camera bag
My Nikon D800 or D750, a gorilla pod or a carbon tripod with ball head and according to the principal, I would like to take pictures, I grab my backpack with a macro-, telephoto and wide-angle lens. Otherwise, I have a respective 14-24 mm, 105 mm, 70-200 mm, 300 mm lens, a telephoto converter and gray filter with it.Feedback
Photographing in the "blue hour" or early morning is one of the best thing you can do. Courage to black and white photos. Sometimes the simple motives are better than complicated. Water and light in the combination are fascinating, always pay attention to the correct exposure time and again: Long Exposure for soft, blurry, cotton-effects or very short for frozen water.
