Wow! I love the way the light filters through this picture. Absolutely gorgeous!

Behind The Lens

Location

Living most of my life in Alberta, we are spoiled by the scenery especially around the mountains! This image was taken at Troll falls in Kananaskis country.

Time

This was around midday that I had captured this image with the light peeking through the falls

Lighting

I’m always a fan of natural light as there’s nothing like it. Early morning, slight overcast and sunset lighting are my favorite

Equipment

I used my Nikon D7000 on a tripod with a 18-105mm

Inspiration

Waterfalls are fascinating to me because of the power that comes with them but at the same time mesmerizing as you can just stare at them for long periods of time and never get bored!!

Editing

For this image I only had to tweak the saturation a little bit that’s about it

In my camera bag

Other than my Nikon I will bring my triggers for Hss strobes/ speedlights, extras batteries, 2-3 lens, light stands, tripod and md filters

Feedback

Having a steady tripod was key for this shot as I slowed down the shutter speed to about 1/20 and lower until I got the image the way I wanted. It’s handy to create light streams at night too with this technique. Options are endless with a Dslr!
