I was trying to capture how someone can lose themselves in the tranquility of a beautiful setting. This is probably one of my favourite spots in the whole world as we have been to this place at least once every year for the last 20 years, and due to recent events my wife was wondering if we would ever get back there again

Location
In the North east of Corfu overlooking the mountains in Albania, when I was on holiday in AugustTime
It was taken late in the afternoon with a Nikon D200 and a Nikkor 28-70mm zoom.Lighting
The problem about the Greek Islands is most of the day there is so much light kicking about especially with reflections coming off the water I had to wait till later in the day before attempting tp get the shotEquipment
It was taken using a handheld Nikon D200 and a Nikkor 28-70mm zoom. No flash, but adjusted the white balance a couple of stops from what I remember.Inspiration
We were about to leave this bay at the end of our holiday. I had just committed to going to University for at least 3 years to study Photojournalism, a tough decision for us as its our favourite place in the whole world, having been here numerous times, and is of my wife was contemplating the fact we wouldn't be able to afford to come back here for at least 4 years.Editing
It is relatively untouched. If you look carefully there are a few dust spots on the lens I should have removedIn my camera bag
I normally carry the 28-70mm zoom on the Nikon D200 and have a 70-300mm in my camera bag. As a contingency I also carry a manual focusing 50mm F1.8. Recently I have been also using a Lumix compact which can zoom unto 600mm, but also takes great wide angle panoramic.Feedback
I should have used a tripod. As I was using low ISO for quality, and as the shot was taken late in the day with less light, it was difficult to use a small aperture to capture the required depth of field with a slow shutter speed. But it was an impromptu shot so I was really pleased with the results. I wish I had had used a polarising filter.
