I took it from the Shanghai Tower which is the second highest building in the world (after Burj Khalifa) and has the world highest observation deck.Time

I wanted to capture the atmosphere created by the surronding buildings' lights but I got to be careful to don't burnt the picture too much. The other thing to take in account is that I was shooting from an indorr observation deck so there were reflections. I managed to setup a piece of clothing around the lens to get rid of them.Equipment

I always look for observation decks at the cities I visit. On my trip to Shanghai I had already read about Shanghai Tower but it was not open to the public yet. When I realized that the observation deck was just open for VIP I said to my self I had to try... so I asked a few persons and at the end I was able to get an entry ;)Editing
I am a GNU/Linux user so I can't use software such as Lightroom or Photoshop. Said that, there are pretty nice free/open source alternatives sush as Lightzone. I am a travel photographer so weight is an important handicap to take in account. Because of that, I jumped to the full frame mirror-less world with a Sony a7r which gives me a high quality with a pretty good weight and dimensions. At the beggining I got a Sony Sonnar T* FE 35mm f/2.8 ZA which gives amazing results with such small size. However, I soon felt that it was far to cover my needs. It was not enough wide for landscapes and as a prime lens I didn't get the advantages of any zoom. Because of that, I finally acquired the Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS. As in any zoom lens I lost a bit of quality but I got all the advantages that such a wide range lens gives you. My last adquisition was a hyper wide lens: The Voightlander 10mm e-mount. This is a difficult lens to use but is produce amazing results. I recently got a light tripod (Silk SBH-100 DQ N) which is small and stable enough to take it with me for long walks. Besides that, I always bring with me a couple of filters: - CPL filter: which is quite helpful for bright days, to enhance colors in vegetation and to avoid reflections in come compositions - ND Filter: to play with long exposure picturesFeedback
As mentioned earlier, if you don't have any special attachment to avoid reflections you can setup a piece of clothing around your lens, it works like a charm. In these obersvation decks regular tripod are sometimes not allowed. However, I found that table tripods usually go unnoticed.
