Behind The Lens

Location
I took this view at the San Antonio Zoo. There’s an area where wild birds tend to fly into the park. I watched this wood duck swim for a while, before he took to the skies and flew out of the zoo.
Time
It was in the afternoon, around 2:00 on a cool spring day.
Lighting
The lighting was completely natural. The sun hit his feather just right to make them shine.
Equipment
I used a Canon Rebel t6i and a Sigma 18-300mm lens.
Inspiration
I was learning how to use my camera, and when I saw this wood duck shining in the sun, I knew I had to catch those bright colors!
Editing
I enhanced the color contrast and cropped the background to fix the perspective.
In my camera bag
I have a Canon t6i and a Canon t5i, as well as Tamron and 150-600mm and 75-300mm lenses.
Feedback
Just keep an eye on the sun’s position in the sky. You want the sun behind you so it enhances your subject and makes its colors shine.
