Fayerweather Island was given to the city of Bridgeport, CT in 1932. Black Rock Harbor light has stood here since 1832. It still lights, however it is not the main navigation light for ships in the sound and harbor. It is home to a huge osprey nest on top of the light house. The island is now a nature preserve and only accessible by traversing the breakwater (seawall)
