Location
I took this photo during a trip to Africa, Kenya in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.Time
I took it during an afternoon game drive, it was during the late afternoon.Lighting
I took this picture at ISO 400; f/4; 1/5000. The light conditions were pretty nice and the exposure short. The bird was a good model as well and moved around like posing, slowly , that I could take many pictures.Equipment
I used my Nikon D800, a Nikkor 600mm f/4G ED lens on a tripod.Inspiration
I always liked these birds, the lilac chested roller very much. I think that the color composition is so unique and beautiful. This particular bird sat on the stones right next to the street, where we were driving. It was just a unique opportunity.Editing
I did not process the photo other than cropping in lightroom. In my camera bag
I usually take the D800 with a macro lens and the D4 with a 120 to 400mm lens when I go for a walk in nature. In the city I take a wide angel. And when I go for the migration I take my 600 mm lens.Feedback
For nature pictures I try to use a short exposure, if possible. I try to use a tripod as much as possible. And I work out a lot in the gym and strengthen the muscles in my arms. That helps a lot, in particular, in case I cannot use a tripod.
