I want to cry. You have done it. So beautifull Eelco. Again I want to hug you for the very Dutch image. Freedom of the world. Greetz Angel

Location
I live in an old port town called Enkhuizen (Holland) near the IJsselmeer, the biggest natural lake of Europe. This photo was taken just outside the old harbour.Time
It must have been about 4 O'Clock at the end of the day.Lighting
I waited for the moment the sun dissapeared behind the dark clouds, still shining her light on the white clouds at the left side of the photo.Equipment
This photo was shot free out of hand without any extra equipment with my big friend Lumix DMC-TZ60, a wonderful pocketcamera which practically fits in my back pocket..Inspiration
I was inspired by the typical Dutch feeling of this photo; the heavy clouds, the old sailing boat and the flat, calm water before the storm... I edited the clouds a bit in the style of the 17th century Dutch painters as they tried so wonderful to capture the typically Dutch skies.Editing
I edited this photo in Lightroom to put some emphasis on the colors of the ship and I played a little with the light intensities to make the dark cloud stand out a little more.In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand how it works first...Feedback
When photographing water and sailing boats, I think it's crucial to invite space and sky to your composition, in any way you like. It can be in detail or like I did in this photo, with the rule of thirds as a waterscape. A rather logical but also important compositional advice is to make sure your boat sails into the photo instead of out... This is even more important when the ship you are shooting is laying still in the water, make sure wich part is the front. Many times I see fellow photographers editing the clouds so heavily that they end up allmost black. I prefer not to go that far, because it makes the sky look too dominant, as if she is coming down on you...
