Location
This was taken at Ross Castle, Killarney, Ireland. It is my 'go to' place just down the road from me & a great place to practice due to constant changing light and weather conditions.Time
Sometime early morning if i remember but i am up and down the road to this castle so often it's hard to tell! Judging by the shadows and time of year, i'm thinking sometime around 7-8am.Lighting
Like i say, lighting is a huge factor at Ross Castle due to location and of course the Irish weather which can change in the blink of an eye! My camera is 90% of the time on the aperture setting so i'm constantly adjusting the settings, which is a good thing for me as i'm still on a learning journey.Equipment
I only have some basic equipment. I shoot at the moment with a Nikon D3200 with a standard lens, i have a small & large tripod, and a remote, & that is about it! We gotta start somewhere, right?! Onwards and upwards! :DInspiration
Ross Castle is on the edge of The Lakes of Killarney, quite simply there is inspiration everywhere, i am surrounded by it! Any photographers here who have experienced Ireland, especially the South West, know exactly what i mean! Aside from that, i'm always trying to improve on earlier images i have taken.Editing
I do not have Photoshop or any apps like it! Any adjustments are usually pretty small & on my standard 'Windows 7' settings, a touch on exposure, and a touch of saturation if needed! I'm lucky with my D3200 as it takes a colourful and usually sharp image! In my camera bag
Well, mostly starting from scratch and entirely self taught, i truly only own the items previously stated except for a Nikon L810 which i have not used in months!Feedback
The only advice someone of my limited knowledge and skill can possibly give is, if possible keep trying to improve on images you have already taken! I had taken many images from this exact spot, some of them very good images, before i was happy with this one! I love reflection shots, so of course you need calm weather, wind free, and i do like to see clouds! I'm lucky to live so close to the lakes of Killarney, when they are calm they are like mirrors, not a ripple. Personally i like to get my camera as low and close to the water as possible, i feel i can get more detail into my images.
