Location
This shot was taken at Dunnet Head, Caithness which is the most northerly point on the UK mainland.Time
Drove for around two and a half hours to reach Dunnet Head from Inverness in the early afternoon to specifically get some shots of Puffins, well worth the long drive.Lighting
Lighting was harsh afternoon sun but was fading in and out behind clouds which helped diffuse the light for this shot.Equipment
taken with a Canon 70D using a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens which was on a monopod.Inspiration
Although i'm not a huge fan of birding shots I think Puffins are such a photogenic bird and was determined to capture a good shot of one.Editing
Processed in Lightroom with a slight crop and very fine sharpening applied, but not much else.In my camera bag
Always try to take a good selection of different focal lengths, but living in the Scottish Highlands you have to travel for some shots so always drive with my camera on the passenger seat and have the longest lens attached, you never know what wildlife will be around the next corner in Scotland and it pays to be prepared.Feedback
Patience and a good head for heights as for this shot I was close to the edge of a very high cliff face, best not to look down.
