Location
The photo was taken a short distance from apartment in Dogpatch, San Francisco. My apartment affords me a view of the Bay, so it's easy for me to see whatever weather conditions are occurring. The view is of the San Francisco dry docks.Time
The metadata tells me this was taken at 8:30am in January.Lighting
It looks like it could be a moonrise, but the heavy fog made it possible to shoot straight into the sun.Equipment
Nikon D7000, 18-200mm Nikkor zoom, 1/2500, f4, 18mmInspiration
I am drawn to the atmospheric effect of fog on natural light.Editing
I always shoot in RAW and use Adobe Lightroom, but seriously there is almost no post processing on this except the removal some sensor spots. In my camera bag
Recently I switched from Nikon to SONY A7 which is much lighter. In my bag is a lens brush, business cards, a screw on closeup filter, and a small spray bottle full of water to produce droplets on surfaces or spider webs.Feedback
Pat attention to weather forecasts and don't let inclement weather stop you from going out shooting; that's when more dramatic images are captured. You'll be surprised.
