Location
This was taken from the park inside Museum of Islamic Arts, Doha, QatarTime
It was like past 5pm of June of 2016 when I took this photo. I had this in mind when I first visited the location. I knew then I had taken home a composition and to got back a day or two days after, as I recall. I was already in the stage of planning to have an image in mind at the time. And it has been my way of practice being a landscape enthusiast.Lighting
Golden hour has already part of how I wanted my images be taken. It was this photo I came to realize more where tonality comes to play during this time. In fact, past 5 pm was not yet the ideal one when this was taken. I was so conscious then being checked by securities of the museum. However, it turned out well to my taste and yours humbly being considered.Equipment
Nikon D7100 and Sigma 8-16mm. Manfrotto "Be Free" tripod.Inspiration
Doha, Qatar is a very historic city rich in cultural heritage! As you can see in the photo, they started as a humble nation of pearl divers and fishermen as most source of living at the time. Their Dhows, traditional boats, is one of their national icon. With this, these Dhows pointing to their progress towards the background of modern commercial business West Bay district at this time, is a recap how short in time Qatar made it as one of the fastest growing nation in the middle east. This is what this image is all about.Editing
Yes. Lightroom only. I need to control my highlights from its source of light from the west, to prevent a blown out photo, while I lifted some shadows to show details of these traditional iconic boats and the rest. Contrast was adjusted, with sliders controlling its sharpness and luminance to reduce some noise. High dynamic range capability of Nikon's D7100 truly made me to produce this image better. In my camera bag
At this time, I take my Nikon D800, 24-85mm and Tamron 70-200mm usd vc for landscapes I would truly plan of having an image to take home. For travel, I bring along my Fujifilm XT-1, or XE2, XF10-24mm f/2, and XF 55-200mm 3.5-4.8, nisi nd8, lee big stopper nd10 and my Manfrotto "Be Free" tripod.Feedback
Patience is the key for landscapes. Do not rush things up. Have presence of mind on settings not to miss the chance. Composition is tantamount to have decent landscapes. Using filters will take you to another level of appreciation and art. This is where I am now. Fine Art Landscapes I would like to achieve. Long exposure is my kind of style. My recent photos are into light painting. Photographers I follow and appreciate: Yen Baet, Cris and Win Magsino, Gary Gough for long exposure, cityscapes, color tonality, fine art landscapes. Allan Mendez for light painting. You may check their accounts online and hope you get the same motivation or even more. Read articles, join groups, YouTube are my source of information. I have not attended nor paid any tutorial yet. A self taught person. Thank you Viewbug! This is my second time to have been selected, this motivates me that I am doing something that fits a criteria on visual art.
