Behind The Lens
Location
Across the River Mersey on Birkenhead side opposite Liverpool. I went to go and watch the fireworks and attempt to capture the fireworks as the ship was leavingTime
9pmLighting
Being a beginner I just wanted to capture a blur free image. I wanted to get the lighting of the night sky while capturing the lighting on the ship and with it bobbing in the water I knew this would be difficultEquipment
I used my Nikon d3100 camera with a tameron 70-300mm lens. I borrowed my dads tripod and came with a note book of notes of the best settings to useInspiration
I wanted to practice taking photos of the fireworks and also capture the Liverpool waterfront at night as it is truly stunning. I had been in the day to get photos of the ship and didn't really think anything of taking more photos until I turned up and she looked beautiful against the sky all lit upEditing
This is a Jpeg image so apart from adjusting the exposure ever so slightly it is how it was tookIn my camera bag
Just my camera and my 70-300mm lens with my standard 18-55mm lens, I am a beginner and trying to build up my kit when I can afford toFeedback
Research the settings you need, and then just trial and error, I would adjust the shutter speed, and the iso until I was happy with the shot. I went away from presets and used manual, and just kept taking photos until I was happy
