Took this photo on a photo walk in Hyde Park. I saw a shop assistant creating large bubbles and quickly took this photo, as this was the last one she created before going back into the shop.Time
I had been on the walk around 4 hours, so it was about 3 o'clock in the afternoon.Lighting
The sun was shining directly on the bubble giving it a great reflective surface and rainbow colours.Equipment
I use a Samsung NX1 with a 30mm lens to capture this photo. This is a perfect lens for a photo walk, not too big to carry around and great for capturing street views.Inspiration
When I am on a photo walk, I try to capture the things that catch my eye. When I saw the bubbles I wanted to capture the fleeting moment they exist for. There is so much chaos happening on the surface of a bubble as it tries to exist. From the wind blowing it in all directions and shapes, the oil on the surface creating all the colours of the rainbow, not to mention the double reflection on the see through skin.Editing
No processing on this, just cropping. The prime 30mm lens has no zoom so can be difficult to take a photo of a subject without capturing things you do not want so cropping happens often with photo walk photos. In my camera bag
I have my trusty Samsung camera bag, (well worth the investment as very comfortable to carry.) In it, I take with me a Samsung NX1, (best camera I have ever used,) a 50 x 200mm zoom lens which is invaluable for catching far off wildlife and building tops. The 30mm is normally attached to the camera from the get go and around my neck so I am ready for the unexpected. I also take the 16mm prime for great landscapes. 3 batteries and 4 x 64 gb sd cards in case I get click happy. I also have a small pocket tripod just so I am ready to take long exposure photos catching light trails in the evening.Feedback
My advice is to be able to catch a shot like this is. Have the camera ready and not stuck in your bag . Set the custom setting for the photo you want to get. At the time of this photo I has set it with a fast shutter speed as I was going through the park hoping to catch flying birds. Have fun and share what you catch on your photo walk
