Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in my apartment. I am a self taught freetime photographer (in reality I would never describe me as a photographer ^^)

Time

It was 7:16 AM on a winter morning. I think it was march and I bought only 3 months ago my very first DSLR camera and started shooting. So I turned up the roller shutters and saw that beautiful sunrise - the sun was absolutely clear through the thin fog. Acually I was very late and about to drive to work but I had to get out my camera and take a photo of that. The problem: at that time there was a big construction area in front of my window - if you know it you can recognize the sillouettes of the house. Also I planted a few weeks ago an avocado pear and only a few days before that picture it got its first leafes. The solution: I hadn't testet the macro function of the camera until that day and I thought that would be a good situation to test it. After a few shots i recognized the perfect proportion of the leafes and the sun and then I took that lucky shot above ... and got too late to work :D

Lighting

The sun was absolutely clear through the thin fog and it was a very soft light that morning.

Equipment

For my bad my tripod laid in the car and I had no time to get it. From now a bad choise because the picture is slightly jittery.

Inspiration

Acually it should only be a test shot to get to know the macro function of the camera :D

Editing

Only a few lightroom settings because it was shot in RAW. -> A bit sharpening, cause the shot was jittery, little color adjustions and strengthen the blurryness of the background a bit.

In my camera bag

At that time I only had the Pentax K-50 and the 18-55 Kit-Lense. Today I changed to the Pentax K-S2 because of some more comfortable features. With the new camera I use the 18-50mm and 70-200mm Kit-Lenses. So nothing special at all. I try to invest my money into adventures and only a small part in absolutely necessary equipment.

Feedback

Try to invest your money into adventures and only a small part in absolutely necessary equipment. Get to know the basic functions of your camera and then practise, practise, practise. And always have an eye for the small things, sometimes you don't even have to leave your home to take a good shot ;)
