Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at my home in Kentucky.

Time

It was sometime in the afternoon. I had been waiting for hours for the rain to let up so I could walk around and find something new to photograph.

Lighting

It was just good ol' sunshine I used for lighting.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon EOS Rebel Xti and my Tamron macro lens. No other equipment was needed.

Inspiration

After all the rain, I saw 4 or 5 snails making their way up the base of my bird bath. I hadn't tried photographing a snail before so I thought it would be a good time to try. I pulled two off and sat them on a lava rock because I liked the color combo and started shooting.

Editing

I did turn down the highlights a bit. Sunshine and "slime" make some pretty bright "highlights" sometimes!

In my camera bag

I'm a beginner so I still don't have much in the way of equipment. Normally there are 3 lenses, my camera, a tripod and a set of reflectors in my bag.

Feedback

The only advice I would have would be to put the subject where the sun isn't shining down right on it.
