Location
I took this photo on the north end of Folly Beach mostly know as the Morris Island Lighthouse side of Folly.Time
Just right after sunrise.Lighting
The clouds waren't working for me this morning but I waited until after the sun peak out over the horizon. Sometimes you need to wait for the sun when the sunrise isn't workingEquipment
I used Canon 5ds with a tripod and Lee little stopper nd fliter, canon 17mm-40mm wide angle lens and a remote trigger. Most important was that it was low tide. It's the only way you get all the rocks showing.Inspiration
I am lucky enough to live so near the beach. I try and go as often as possible. I love this end of Folly Beach so much history.Editing
I try and do as much in the camera as possible. I hate sitting in front of the computer. I adjust the exposure and the color; general setting (highlights and shadows). I did lighten the rock and upped the clarity on them.In my camera bag
I always have my lee filters with me and a wide angle lens. I always have a plastic bag and cloth. The camera get mist on the lens.Feedback
For ocean shoots you need to know when the tides are high or low. Some of the beaches around here don't have much beach when it is high tide. Use a ND filter this helps you get smoother water. Sometimes when you think you have a great composition it worth to step away from your camera and take a few steps to the right or left or even get down to sand level. I always end up in the water. Sometimes you need to move to another spot. This shoot was my 3rd place I set up don't be married to 1 place and set up camp. Walk around and look. Sometimes I get lucky with my 1st spot but not always. Be patience sometimes you have to go back to spot several times before you get the shoot you wanted.
