Puerto Natales is a city of Chilean Patagonia, located 247 km northwest of Punta Arenas. It is the capital of the commune of the same name and the province of Ultima Esperanza in the region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica.
It is the main entry point for visitors to the Torres del Paine National Park and end of the shipping line from Puerto Montt.
In 1830, the expedition of the HMS Beagle, sent by the British Admiralty, explores all Ladrillero industry discovered. The names of some members of the expedition are now familiar in the area: Robert Fitz Roy, William Skyring, James Kirke and naturalist Charles Darwin.
