I took this picture of St. Peter from the bridge next to the Palace of Justice in Rome. This is one of the most famous view of Rome.
It was around 6 p.m. During all day it was cloudy and white, so it was totally unexpected this incredible sunset. The red light just went out when the city lights lit up. It was stunning. Rome is my home town, I pass near S. Peter almost every day of my life, but I never get tired by its beauty.
Lighting
When I shoot my photos, I'm always looking for the most interesting natural light. As Monet has painted dozens of times Notre Dame at various times of the day and throughout the year, I also like to explore every facet of a place through its light, its hours and weather. In this photo the conjunction of all these random parameters allowed me to make a unique picture that apart from its beauty, will be unrepeatable. At the same time I know that in this place I can still take hundreds of photos, all different.
