Awesome!, How do you get the vehicle in color while the background is grey? I'm just learning but would love to know :)

Thanks for asking. You have to photoshop. There are some great tutorials on youtube.

Yeah, this is something I accidentally came upon when I was playing around and now it's sort of my thing. Got a lot of attention for it on Youpic and people seem to like it here as well.

That's the beauty of Photoshop, no matter how long you've used it, you keep on stumbling on effects you never knew it was capable of:)

True! On average my car photos take between 15 and 60 minutes to create. Depending on how particularly thorough I want to be. It's not like an instagram filter anyways.

I play around often using Photoshop Actions and rely also on Googles now free downloadable Nik Efex collection of very useful filter effects too. It keeps me off the streets LOL

Ha ha good job! Yeah I've tried the actions too but I usually end up doing more editing anyways so I might as well do it from scratch.

Spectacular! I remember this car very well. My uncle had a black one, and I recall riding around the city in it very often. It's nice to see that you pay homage to this old beauty. Your editing effects are terrific.

Love this capture. Great photography. Reminds me of my youth when my cousins and I used to cruise around in their dads 52 Caddy Coup Diville, looking for girls.

Location
Västerås, Sweden during Power Big Meet.Time
Afternoon I'm guessing. It was a few years ago now.Lighting
It's never wrong with clouds in the picture. They can add "drama" to a photo that would lack excitement without them.Equipment
I think it was my Nikon Coolpix S9100 - my backup when I don't want to haul my big DSLR around.Inspiration
I'm at the second biggest classic car show in the world - The beautiful classics were and are my inspiration. Their design, lines and craftmanship. Noticed the helicopter in the background? It also adds to the composition wether you notice it or not.Editing
Quite a bit. About an hour's worth I'd say. First the sepia then selective color and a touch of HDR to enhance the details to top it off.In my camera bag
Nikon D7100, my three most used lenses at the moment, (10-24, 24-70 & 70-200) a wireles remote, spare battery, cleaning tissue, ND-filters, pen and paper.Feedback
When photographing cars, it's very much about the angle. I call it "The Frog Perspective" - low to the ground and from the corner of the front fender to capture as much of the vehicle as possible in one shot. (Going low also helps reducing the amount of background fuss, like people, garbage cans etc. that you don't want in the image.) That's what people like to see. I photograph and write for classic car magazines and they are very specific about getting as much of the car in the picture as possible. I'm kind of damaged that way, nowadays. I'm all "magazine" in my compositions. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but I see where they're coming from and I have come to prefer it too.
