It's called steel wool. You can get it in any shops, I suppose. You make it burn and spin it. Be careful, though. ;)

I love the movement and colouring in your composition. It incapsulates the graffiti and light together beautifully.

Location
I took this photo in an alley under a "highway" in Oslo. I was looking for a darker place, but actually this alley is kinda brighter during night than during daylight.Time
It was around midnight, since during summer one have to wait a lot to have a dark sky above Norway.Lighting
Since it is a long exposure, you have to be aware of the incoming light, so I had to choose the proper shutter speed and aperture. Otherwise I had the steel wool and the lamps in the tunnel as light sources.Equipment
I used my Nikon D90 with my regular kit lens (18-105). A tripod, A Giga T Pro II wireless timer remote. And my friend to spin the steel wool.Inspiration
I've seen many of these kind of photos, and wanted to try myself in it. This is just the beginning....Editing
I took this photo in RAW, therefore I had more freedom to post-process it. I used some tonal contrast, popped up the colors a little bit.In my camera bag
I always have my lenses: 18-105, 10-20, 40 macro, 70-300 macro, gorillapod, tripod, crystalball(globe), lens cleaning kit, extra battery, charger for battery, filters.Feedback
Always be careful about the surroundings around you. When you make steel wool photography try to avoid anything flammable. And use protective gloves, glasses, clothes.
